Lur, Druze, periphery

At 54, Lur is a divorced mother and breast cancer patient living in a remote Druze village far from the nearest hospitals, requiring long and costly travel for every treatment. Having escaped domestic violence, she has raised her three children entirely on her own, but the compounding costs of her illness orced her to rely on loans to meet basic financial needs. A grant from the Lemonade Fund provided a critical intervention, offering a safety net that high-interest debt could not sustain. By lifting the heavy weight of these loans and the daily pressure of household survival, the relief allowed the overwhelming financial noise to quiet, finally giving Lur the mental and emotional space to focus entirely on her own treatment. This support ensured that after a lifetime of advocating for her children, Lur felt truly seen and cared for, providing her with the strength to fight for her health and her family’s future.
