Ovarian Cancer Relief

Support program for financially vulnerable Israeli women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest gynecological malignancies with harsh long-term treatments that make working impossible, often also having financial ramifications for patients and their families. Treatment for ovarian cancer can involve complex and repeated surgeries and regimens that are longer than those of most cancers. Lemonade Fund grants provide assistance for non-medical essentials—such as childcare, eldercare, extra household help, transportation, and basic living costs—so they can focus on treatment with peace of mind and dignity.

Primary goal of this program

The primary goal of this program is to counter the unique issues faced by women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. We aim to ensure that vulnerable Israeli ovarian cancer patients can undergo treatment without financial crisis.

Why is this program so important?

The importance of this program lies in its ability to address the devastating “hidden” costs of ovarian cancer, one of the deadliest gynecological malignancies. Because treatments are exceptionally grueling—often involving complex, repeated surgeries and regimens that last far longer than those of most other cancers—working becomes impossible, creating a severe financial crisis for patients and their families. While medical systems focus on the disease, the Lemonade Fund focuses on the patient’s survival outside the hospital by providing grants for non-medical essentials like childcare, transportation, and basic living costs. By bridging this gap, the fund ensures that patients can face their recovery with peace of mind and dignity, knowing their family’s most basic needs are met.

Recent grant recipient

Hila was living abroad working as a musician when she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer at age 28. She returned to Israel to begin treatment, but arrived with no job and exhausted savings. While her family is emotionally supportive, they do not have the financial means to assist with her expenses. A grant from the Lemonade Fund has provided Hila with a vital safety net, covering her basic living costs so she can focus entirely on her treatment and recovery. Because of this support, Hila no longer has to face the crushing weight of financial uncertainty while fighting for her life. Hila is no longer alone.
